Head of Venture Acceleration, Office of Research and Knowledge Transfer Services, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Victor is an R&D Chemist, Semiconductor Process Engineer, QA Professional, and Serial Entrepreneur before he joined The Chinese University of Hong Kong as Head of Venture Acceleration and Entrepreneurship.
Under his supervision, a team of technology transfer officers and IP professionals have helped the City University of Hong Kong maintain no. 1 in the IP profile in Hong Kong (and 2nd in Greater China). He has closed around HKD 50 million in collaborative research and licensing in recent years.
In recent years, Victor has extended his capacity in teaching. Under his support, the College of Science, CityU, has developed various courses in Entrepreneurship, Intellectual Right Protection, and related. Besides, he is also the course leader of IGNITE, a university-wide start-up training program for HKTech 300. Within a year, he has trained over 1,500 students (in 500 plus start-up teams).
Victor received his B.Sc. and Ph.D. in inorganic material chemistry at The University of Hong Kong. He continued his research at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2001-2002. He also earned an M.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2013. His interest in science and technology began as a young boy when he led his classmates in various science competitions.
Dr Victor Lau Chor Yue, Mr Brain Cheung, Ms Miranda Wong Ho Yee and Ms Hung Lai Fun will be joining a panel discission to analyse and examine the local entrepreneurial ecosystem, how local community programmes and resources can provide entrepreneurship support and incubation services to youth in Hong Kong, and how entrepreneurship can be promoted in schools to better prepare students for the future workplace.
