Biography

Dr Stephen Yip is the Director (Schools) of CLAP@JC, the Education University of Hong Kong (2020-now). He served as a Principal Curriculum Officer and later the Chief Executive, the Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau, HKSAR Government (2002-16), taking the responsibility of curriculum development in Hong Kong primary and secondary schools as well as kindergartens. He gained his PhD in education and Master of Education degrees from the University of Cambridge and studied Chemistry and Biochemistry at Imperial College of Science and Technology, London. Before returning to HK in 2002, he was a school adviser and a schoolteacher in several local authorities in the United Kingdom. His research interest areas include career and life development, curriculum leadership, values education, life-wide learning and experiential learning. He was awarded three teaching awards during his full-time university lectureship (2016-20). Recently, he was presented with the ‘2023 Outstanding Figure’ award from Chinese Today magazine.
