Principal Ng has been working in the special education field for over thirty years. She has served as a special school teacher, Quality Assurance Officer and Curriculum Development Officer at the Education Bureau, and has become a principal since then. Principal Ng has been the convener of the " Jockey club Experiential Learning Project for Students with Special Educational Needs " career and life development initiative since 2022.
Principal Ng has been involved in the development of the "Learning Progress Framework for Students with Intellectual Disabilities." This framework is now widely used for assessments in major subjects across special schools. Additionally, she has been contributed in the "Special Schools school-based Learning materials Digitization Scheme", which focuses on creating e-books for various subjects to align with the current learning trends and cater to the needs of special school students.
In recent years, Principal Ng has shown a strong commitment to enhance the career and life development opportunities for students with special education needs. She is currently involved in tailoring the CLAP@JC Hong Kong Benchmarks for Career and Life Development, a self-assessment framework designed specifically for special schools. Principal Ng’s on-going efforts are centered around expanding the academic, career, and leisure pathways for students in special school.
Student empowerment is at the core of education and school is an ideal place to provide students with the skills and mindsets they need to make informed decisions that are important and relevant to them and to be productive members of societies. The panel will explore how schools can build in key platforms and infrastructure to support and empower students through their development.
