Ms Marina Chan

Executive Director, MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node

Biography

Leveraging innovation best practices from MIT, Marina designs and leads learning experiences on technology entrepreneurship for corporates, universities, and K-12. Her work conceiving MIT Innovation Academy to develop the entrepreneurial mindset earned the 2021 International Innovation Awards by Enterprise Asia. As a key partner of CoolThink@JC, Marina and her team are helping schools harness the power of computational thinking to empower teachers and students.

Marina’s career background spans investment banking, telecoms, and social entrepreneurship. She is a CFA charter holder and earned a master’s degree in education from Harvard University. Active in the community, she serves on the board of the Hong Kong Red Cross Special Education and Rehabilitation Service Governing Committee and is a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Abstract:

Amid the rapid rise of AI, educational and research institutions across the world have actively integrated AI into teaching and research, bringing evolutionary changes to the traditional ways of teaching and research. The CUHK Jockey Club AI for the Future Project brings together internationally renowned AI scholars and technology industry experts to analyze the latest developments and prospects of AI in the realm of education and research and explore the ethical issues involved, thereby arousing public concern about the ethics of AI.
