Biography

Professor Alvin Leung Seung Ming is Chairperson of Committee on Professional Development of Teachers and Principals (COTAP), and Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Professor Leung was Dean of Education of CUHK (2011-2020). His research and publications focused on career development and assessment, cross-cultural and multicultural counselling, and youth counselling. Professor Leung has received many international awards for his scholarship and leadership, including the 2009 ‘Distinguished Alumni Award’ from his Alma Mater, College of Education, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the 2015 ‘Life Time Contribution Award’ from the International Section of the Division of Counseling Psychology of APA, the 2018 ‘Award of Outstanding Contribution to the Profession of Chinese Career Development’ from the 2018 Shanghai Career Development Conference, and the 2018 ‘Outstanding International Psychologist Award’ from the Division of International Psychology of APA. Professor Leung serves on key government advisory committees, including as Chairperson of COTAP, Chairperson of High-level Advisory Panel for the Chief Executive’s Award for Teaching Excellence; and as a member of the Education Commission, Family Council, and Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR).
