Topic:
Innovating the Evaluation of Integrated Qualities of Students with the Support of AI
Abstract:

China has implemented the evaluation of integrated qualities of primary and secondary students for 20 years. While accumulating rewarding experience and outcomes, challenges on the scientific and objective aspects have been encountered. Since 2022, Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China commenced the nation-wide pilot work titled ‘Integrated Qualities of Students Evaluation supported by Information Technology (信息技術支撐學生綜合素質評價)’. The project aims to formulate the evaluation theory and standard mechanism of qualities development of Chinese students from the perspectives of non-academic abilities, virtues and values, and based on selection-oriented and nurturing-oriented evaluation solutions over the past 20 years. Such formulation will be built on Information Technology like AI to establish real or virtual scenarios to collect the objective performance of students, and automate the data analysis model for evaluating their abilities and for consolidating a nation-wide intelligence platform. Such platform could be used to explore the scientific and feasible aspects of the evaluation, and to render a national endorsed solution for evaluating the integrated qualities of students with contextual characteristics.
